Plants have always been called “the people’s medicine” and that’s my belief about plants and herbs as well. Knowing how to help your body isn’t for a select few, it’s been a knowledge that humans have had for thousands of years and only recently have we entrusted almost all of our health decisions to large companies.

That’s why I started this site and this business. To help bridge the gap between what’s outside in our parks and yards right now and our healthy bodies. Health doesn’t exist in a medicine cabinet or a hospital room but we have forgotten the knowledge that our grandmothers and grandfathers had about using what we have to be healthy. We can ALL learn how to do even a few basic things with plants to reach our best health.

Interested in plants from an early age, I have been connecting with plants for many years. I grew up in Wisconsin where I played mainly outdoors and in the woods. This gave me an early love and respect for the growing things around me.

In my 20’s, I began studying herbs while I was living in Colorado and began a more formal style of study learning to create teas, tinctures, and other methods of delivering plant health to my body. At this time, I also developed chronic kidney stones.

For anyone suffering from even one kidney stone, you can attest to the awful pain and suffering that these cause. I have had more than 30 stones. Modern Western medicine offers only pain management and surgical removal if stones grow large enough. I had 2 such surgeries without much luck. I began using herbs in order to try and alleviate my problem myself. Many people turning to herbs are in a similar situation. They are sick, tired, and aren’t getting support and health improvements. Through this, I began to learn plants in a more intimate way, and now I have been kidney stone free for years.

I believe that the best health comes from the land that you live on. The closer to the ground that we consume our plants (both herbs and vegetables), the more powerful the nutrients and healing that plant can give. For this reason, I am a strong believer in eco-friendly foraging and growing herbs and food.

Growing and foraging is NOT just for people with a huge yard IT IS FOR EVERYONE. Whether you have access to a yard, a strip of grass between a sidewalk and the road, or even the overlooked corner of a park, food and healing is something that is for everyone not just a few.

I now bring many years of plant experience, both in formal learning and in practice to health challenges (specifically chronic problems and pain). I also love helping people to bring herbs and wild plants into their lives through foraging and adding native plants to their yards and gardens.
